Cnews: Two drug traders were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police in the anti-drug drive at Kalibari Lane area of Mymensingh around 1:45am on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified Roni, 30, and Anowar Hossain alias Anar, 38.
Law enforcers rescued 1,750 pieces of Yaba tablets, three shells of bullets and foreign made pistol from the spot, according to police.
Parimal Chandra Das, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the district DB and constable Shamim were seriously injured in the incident. They were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.
Ashiqur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) of the district DB, said acting on a tip off, law enforcers conducted a drive in front of an abandoned house of Kalibari Lane area of the district town. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, drug traders fired and hurled brick bats and stones at them. In retaliation, DB men also fired at them. At one stage, drug traders fled the scene. Later, DB members found Roni and Anar in bullet-hit at the scene. They were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital where attending doctors declared him dead.
